Are you manifesting your back up plan?

Are you manifesting your back up plan?

One of my favourite coaches in the States is a guy called Michael Port (see www.thinkbigrevolution.com).

In one of his Think Big Revolution teleseminars some time ago he shared an interesting story that I thought was quite profound and worth repeating here.

He said that while he was at acting school, one of his most respected teachers remarked one day “If you are studying acting and going to law school at the same time, I can almost guarantee that 5 years from now you will be a lawyer”.

The quote really made think long and hard about the time, energy and effort I was investing into my own back up plans. It also made me question whether or not that energy would be better spent really going after the things that I truly desired in life.

The irony of back-up plans.

I definitely think that there is profound truth in the saying that most people end up doing the things that they are second best at.

Most of us are taught to have back up plans. These back up plans despite being well intentioned usually result in people spending so much time focusing upon them that they actually end up manifesting them!

We end up settling for careers that put a roof over our heads but do not provide us with the deep sense of aliveness that our spirits yearn for.

Now I have no doubt that most would experience a certain level of comfort about the fact that they have very wisely planned for contingencies. But my question always remains “what would your life be like if you just as meticulously planned for the realisation of your heart’s true desires?”

We create back up because we do not trust ourselves.

I think the whole back-up plan way of thinking generally falls out of a lack of trust in our own abilities to handle life’s journey.

The reason I know about this so intimately is because I spent 8 years of my life working in corporate environments that remunerated well financially but starved me of the opportunities to celebrate my unique talents and express my full potential.

While working in each one of these environments I searched relentlessly for the confidence to leave that world. What I eventually discovered was all that I needed to do was to let go and just trust in myself in the process.

Any situation can be transformed.

You will never find yourself in a situation in life that can’t be transformed it into something more empowering and more meaningful.

As long as you keep aligning yourself with things that are a true expression of your soul, you will find the internal and external resources necessary to transform any situation or circumstance.

So where’s your focus?

If you are currently spending most of your time and energy focusing upon your safety net, I can almost guarantee that that is where you will end up.

If however, you choose to focus your full energy and attention on catching the trapeze (often only possible when there is no net) you will start to access powerful resources that you didn’t realise you had.

I can also guarantee that you will also start to achieve things that you never thought possible.

YES......YES......OH YES I am manifesting my back up plan........Why......because I'm very, very good at it. Years of working in IT......backed it up...oops!!!!
Damien the newsletter brought tears to my eyes......yes I'm a water sign.........yet also I know it as a litmus test for an inner realisation.

Boy did you hit home when you said...keep a roof over ones head etc etc. Currently I'm blessed with no financial debt yet equally I've no assets, regular income and have been nomadic since I left the 'village' 5 years ago.

So now I ROAR from the deepest place I can reach - "I'm willing to remember more of who I AM."
thank you
